Tenancingo: Home Grown Sexual Abusers

Trucking had always been a dream of mine. I’ve always liked operating heavy machinery and traveling, so trucking was a natural fit. I drove truck coast to coast for one year in between college and seminary, while I was still single. My first time across the Rockies was in a bad snow storm. Dropping down a hill in a semi truck from 11,000 feet when it’s hammering snow is quite an experience! What makes it more adventurous is looking down and seeing other tractor trailers that have careened off the interstate to the bottom of ravines from years past. It’s an eerie feeling to see multiple unrecovered trucks at the bottom of a mountain. Once a truck has fallen so far, it’s impossible to tow it back up to the top of a mountain, so many of them end up being left there permanently.

I believe evil is the same way. Once someone has fallen so far down, it becomes impossible to tow them back to the top. I had a Bible professor who has another helpful analogy called the “chained dog” theory. Evil is like a dog that’s chained up. It has boundaries set by God. Evil still exists, but the chain restricts evil’s reach. We can either stay outside of evil’s reach, or we can taunt it and risk it latching on to us and dragging us deeper into its territory. Have any of you ever been to a place that is so dark, you can “feel” the evil?

God warned the Israelites, “But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will be swept away” (1 Samuel 12:24-25 NIV). Romans 12:21 says, “Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.” The Bible mentions evil and its variants (evils, evildoer, etc.) just shy of 500 times. There is a consistent message throughout the Bible that many Christians deny. . . there is a level of evil that creates a suction point, a trap, a point of no return.

The small town of Tenancingo, Mexico is one of these places. It is the breeding ground for a major pedophile ring and sex trafficking to the United States. Young children are saying that they want to be like their dads and sell women for sex. There is no remorse, and darkness plagues the town. Psychologists are divided on what “makes” a perpetrator act out on very young children. Is it psychological factors, environmental, genetic, addictions to pornography, etc.? To be fair, nobody really knows for sure. If we are honest, we would admit that there are many hidden factors, both in the brain and in the home, that we will probably never figure out as far as causality. But one thing we can probably all agree on is that perpetrators who sexually act out on children are committing an evil. And once you begin messing with the dog, eventually it’s going to bite. And in Tenancingo, the dog has claimed its territory and is dragging people all over the place. I highly recommend watching this documentary on Tanancingo’s trafficking of sex slaves to the US. It is worth every minute.
****WARNING: We need people to watch this and raise awareness that this stuff happens all the time****

So what’s my point? Or rather, what’s God’s point? At the top of the list, remember the old saying, “If you play with fire you’re bound to get burned?” Well, if you play with evil, you’re bound to get bit. According to Scripture, we’ve all done evil. But it’s the perpetual toying with it that leads to the point of no return. There is, however, great news in all of this. For those who struggle with pedophilic thoughts at a younger age, rehabilitation is quite successful. I’d encourage parents who have allegations come against their children to not be so quick to defend them. Rather, get them the help they need.

I’ve received several phone calls with similar scenarios–a 13-15 year old boy was inappropriately saying things, doing things, or was infatuated with young children. And in all the cases (so far), the parents or guardians defended the perpetrator, not the alleged victims. Folks, if you see your child getting too close to a chained dog, don’t tell everyone else to buzz off. Help pull your child from that evil. Seek professional guidance from a sex-specific therapist. Help your child get out before it is too late. The more children learn to keep this a secret, the more they will be emboldened to act out. Help them get out. Help them find a way to deal with their attraction and aggression toward younger children. Love does not defend evil. It helps pull people from it before they become so debased that they cannot stop.

  1. My pastor says that the thief on the cross is a lesson. He is the one deathbed conversion to show that there is hope and only one example to preclude presumption. I believe God will save some pedophiles as well as some homosexuals, but it is foolish to be blind to the nature of the workings of these sins. Most will not be saved. Jesus is no nonsense about the severity of causing children to sin. I know of one convicted pedophile who lives in a nearby city whose been converted and has recently married. His church is watching him close. The cops are watching him. No one is watching the 97%who haven’t been caught so keep pounding the drum about how they operate. You are doing what Ephesians commands by exposing evil.

  2. Thank you so much for the work you’re doing by continuing to educate us. I think that the reason most people don’t respond to videos and articles such as this is because it’s just too hard to believe. And, yet, as we know — this is happening! And, sex slaves seems to be the biggest, most profitable “business” going on right now. It’s happening right under our noses. And, yet…..we still find it too hard to believe……… UNTIL it happens to one of our loved ones!

  3. Thank you. So many lives can be saved if parents will listen to your warning! We pray for Mexico, the US, and all victimised people…..so overwhelming…Come Lord Jesus!

  4. I watched the documentary. But I don’t know what to say. My being aware of a problem that has gone on for years and years will not change it. My knowing does nothing to help those women. Even if I posted it on my FB page and all my friends watched it and shared it with their friends, nothing would change. So what can I do practically to end this?

More importantly, why isn’t God doing something? He knows all about it–knows every tiny, sickening detail. Why doesn’t He act? Better yet, why doesn’t He come? What is He waiting for?

Those are hard questions. If I didn’t have a clue as to an answer, I think I would be too afraid to ask them. But I think I have an answer.

It’s hard to explain in just a few words, but essentially He is waiting for people to vindicate or clear His name. The book of Job gives us a clue: Job’s trials were not about testing Job so much as they were about proving that God was still part of this earth that didn’t belong to Satan (his saying that he was walking up and down in the earth implied that he owned it and controlled everything in it). God said Job was faithful, and then He had to allow Satan to prove that God’s word was true. So Jesus demonstrated God’s character, but precious few have demonstrated it since. God needs a group of people (I believe this is the purpose of the 144,000 mentioned in Revelation) who will serve God perfectly at the end of time, who can live without a priest in the sanctuary to intercede for them (Revelation says that during the plagues the temple of God is full of smoke, and no man can enter into it during the plagues–and the Old Testament type teaches that the priests could not minister when smoke and God’s glory filled the temple).

So I do what I can to be educated about how pedophiles work and how I can protect my children. And if God ever puts me in the path of someone that I can rescue, I will do it. But beyond that, the best thing I can do to help solve this horrible problem of sex trafficking is to hasten the coming of the day of God (see 2 Peter 3:10-14). That is the privilege of every Christian. To demonstrate the character of God to the world and clear His name (see Ezekiel 36:23).

    1. Very wise words. I don’t know a point that I can disagree on. Thank you for being educated, for being a voice of justice and reason, and for standing up for God’s innocent.

  5. Evangelical Christianity is sweeping through Latin America. Eventually, those Mexican Christians will address Tenancingo.

  6. Recently, a decades long friendship ended as my friends did everything they could to prevent their young adult son from experiencing any consequences for molesting my child. After much prayer and counsel from an expert in this field, my family concluded the best thing for this young man (whom I’ve known his entire life) and our child was that his crime be reported and that he be registered as a sex offender. There is now a chasm between our family and this young man’s family and friends that cannot be crossed. They believe we’re in sin for “taking him to court” (Jesus wants us to settle with our adversary outside of court. That is “submitting to the Kingdom”) and I am convinced that the righteous thing is that his crime was reported and that he be registered. It’s not just that much of the church is ignorant of the abuse within its community, but that when abuse is exposed, they call their response holy when in fact, they are siding with evil.

    1. You are spot on. We cannot fully understand the love of God until we understand his justice. Ezekiel 33 is a prime example of the consequence for failing to act in accordance with God’s justice. My experience is similar to yours–church leaders especially are the biggest defenders of abusers.

  7. Romania is number 1 in sending sex slaves in Western Europe and not only. They say that only 1% of the people trafficked for sex slavery escape slavery alive and only 3% of traffickers are caught. With a Romanian sex slave that has 50 clients a day, in European Union a trafficker makes 1,500 euros a month. The girls are always kept captive. There was a Romanian girl who refused to prostitute herself in Germany, and the pimp hit her so hard that she has been in deep comma for one year and a half. Even now she cannot move, eat or respond in any way. It’s heartbreaking. If you come from a poor country you have bigger chances to be trafficked, and the saddest part of it is that your traffickers are usually people you know well, like your parents, husband, lover, brother or close friends.
